What is a Professional Harmonizer?
NAPH uses this definition: “A Professional Harmonizer enhances the lives of clients by deconflicting systems and processes using harmonizing principles and by developing harmonizing skills. A Professional Harmonizer also educates the public on harmonizing solutions and the resulting benefits.”
What exactly is Harmonizing and can I be a Professional Harmonizer?
ANSWER: Professional Harmonizing is an interdisciplinary field, touching on such varied topics as psychology, feng fu, faith, kung shui, space planning, kaizen, sustainable zoning and information management. Short answer: “Yes, you can.”
To be candid, one of the most rewarding life styles is to be a Personal Harmonizer.
Interest in this career field continues to grow among recent college graduates, although the majority of individuals entering this field currently come from a variety of diverse well-established careers such as psychoanalysis, nursing, financial advisors, clinical psychology, accounting, teaching, et cetera. A common thread among them is the joy they have discovered by building on their formal education and expanding their capabilities and effectiveness through personal Harmony development and professional application.
However, it’s not enough to just be an harmonized person. To do this professionally, you must be able to design solutions that work for your clients, each of whom will have different needs, desires, personalities, priorities, perceptions, values, skill sets, resources and tolerance levels.
To be effective, you will need knowledge of organizing systems and tools, listening, problem-solving & coaching skills, and a spark of creativity.
The National Association of Personal Harmonizers provides continuing education through workshops at its annual conference, currently held each year in the spring, and the fall retreat. The fall retreat is always held in a foreign country and designed to provide understanding and enriching experiences to develop cross-cultural training techniques. Local NAPH chapters also offer programs based on NAPH materials, targeted to local needs and tailored to identify harmonious opportunities in the local community. NAPH’s parent not-for-profit organization NAPO continues to develop additional resources and education programs across the spectrum of the professional organizing industry.
Many veteran professional harmonizers offer customized training for new harmonizers under a strong member supported mentoring program. Some have written manuals, others offer direct on-site training, and still others provide coaching and consulting services through phone appointments.
Workshops at the annual conference are free. Workshops at the fall retreat are included in the retreat fee which is tax deductible as a business expense. Mentoring is provided by at the NAPH approved local minimalist Harmony Fee rate.
